Sagbayan Peak

In the mountain town of Sagbayan, Bohol, about 45 miles northwest of Tagbilaran City, lies Sagbayan Peak, a mountain resort and recreation center. The 5-hectare resort Offers a 360-degree perspective view of the famed Chocolate Hills plus the distant blue sea separating Bohol from the island of Cebu. It is only 10 miles away from the Chocolate Hills Complex located in the town of Carmen. Compared to the Carmen complex, Sagbayan Peak is more developed, more spacious and has more facilities.

Sagbayan Peak is about 1 1/2 drive from Tagbilaran City. Some of the hills lie just beside the road. Here's one photo I took behind the bus window:

Ticket entrance is only 10.00 pesos. Beside the ticket booth is a tarsier sanctuary where using your camera's flash is prohibited. From the booth,  a wide flight of stairs lead to a plateau where a life-sized T-Rex dinosaur greets every visitor:

There are other cartoon characters scattered around the resort (such as Duffy Duck, Bugs Bunny,  Donald Duck, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Lion King, etc.) which the kids will surely love. There is also a canteen which serves meals and refreshments. Fine dining is served at the air-conditioned CafĂ© Baudillo, which overlooks the butterfly dome and the viewing deck in the distance.

A massive viewing deck is the resort's main attraction. It can be reached through a flight of stairs going up a small hill. The deck gives a 360 degree spectacular view of the surrounding landscape including the Chocolate Hills, the sea, the rice fields and the Island of Cebu.

How to Get There:

Sagbayan Peak is about 45 miles northwest of Tagbilaran City. “For hire” vans are available from Tagbilaran City Pier and at the Dao Terminal. The mountain resort is about 1 1/2 hour drive from Tagbilaran City passing through some of  the most scenic towns of Bohol.
