My Dream Destination: The Enchanting Camotes Island of Cebu

(My Dream Destinations is a series of posts where I will write about my dream vacation places all over the Philippines. This will be my "bucket list" of tourist spots to visit one day. Sources of information and photographs gathered all over the internet will be acknowledged accordingly.)
Camotes Island is is a part of the province of Cebu and lies about 33 nautical miles east of Cebu City. It is comprised of four islands, namely: Pacijan (San Francisco town), Poro (Poro and Tudela towns), Ponson (Pilar town) and Tulang (an island barangay of San Francisco).

Map of Camotes Island:

Camotes Island is famous for its white sand beaches, rich culture and heritage, hospitality, and smiling faces. No wonder it has been regarded by many as "The Island of Enchantment."

Getting There:

Camotes Island can be accessed by boats daily from mainland Cebu. According to camotesisland.blogspot.com, EB Aznar Shipping leaves Cebu City's Pier 2 at 12 noon and 9 pm daily for Poro, Camotes. From Poro, the boat leaves for Cebu at 11am and 12 noon daily. Travel time is four hours. One can also travel to Danao City, an hour north of Cebu. The boat leaves the Danao Pier at 6am and 11 am daily for Poro. From Poro, the boat leaves for Cebu daily at 5am and 11am. Travel time is two hours.
Places I would love to visit:

1. Santiago Bay Garden and Resort

Located in Santiago, San Francisco is a 19-bedroom resort charmingly tucked in a profusion of landscaped exotic foliage overlooking a wide, white sandy beach and a dazzling blue ocean.

2. Mangodlong Rock Resort

Nestled in the serene fishermen’s village of Mangodlong, Heminsulan, San Francisco, the resort stands on 2 hectares of extensive coconut-shaded garden close to the beachfront. Across the resort and separated by a blue sea is a coral islet with tropical huts spread out, connected by a sand bar from the beach.

3. Lake Danao/Greenlake Park

Lake Danao in Camotes Island is known to be the largest lake in the Visayas and Mindanao. The total size of the lake is 680 hectares. On the beautiful bank of Lake Danao in the sleepy village of Union, San Francisco, lies Greenlake Park, a haven for nature enthusiasts and artists. This lake resort sits on a 1.5 hectare of ancient hardwood mangrove forest, and projects a charming serenity that is truly unforgettable and very relaxing.

4. Bakhaw Beach

Bakhaw Beach has a long shoreline with sugary pristine white sands and crystal clear waters.  The beach is located in Esperanza, San Francisco, Camotes Cebu.

  3. Thank you for the beautiful pictures. they look so inviting. I once decided to go to Philippines. And when I was in the air my resort got covered by the tidal wave. So sad and scary. I gotta be thankful I'm alive.
I'm gonna give it another try tho!

  10. Knowing all these factors has given us a way out and in many understandings bus tour to niagara falls is always giving that kind of approach to the maximum number of people..
