Beach Resorts in Opol, Misamis Oriental

After participating in the 34th National Milo Marathon in Cagayan de Oro City, our group headed to Opol, Misamis Oriental to relax and unwind. Opol is the municipality next to Cagayan de Oro City and is known for its long stretch of gray sand beach dotted by a number of resorts.

Opol is about 11 kilometers west of Cagayan de Oro City. We hailed a taxi from Willshire Inn and proceeded straight to D. Yasay Beach. We paid Php 115.00 for the taxi fare.

Since it was a Sunday, most beach resorts are full as expected. It was a good thing that one of our companions already have a cottage reserved at the D. Yasay Beach. The cottage was next to the bamboo fence which separates the resort from the beach front, offering us a good view of the sea and the sands.

Aside from D. Yasay, other beach resorts along the shoreline of Opol are the Apple Tree Hotel and Resort (formerly Lauremar), Roan Beach Resort, San Pedro Beach Resort and Marvilla Beach Resort. These resorts have basic facilities such as open cottages for picnic, closed cottages for overnight accommodation, vidoke machines, shower and comfort rooms and cooking area. Some resorts offer water sports facilities such as jetski and banana boat ride. The Apple Tree Hotel and Resort, is the most well-developed among all the Opol beach resorts. It is a high-end hotel with restaurant, swimming pools, function rooms and other amenities.
