Cebu Day 1: Sto. Niño Exhibit at the Ayala Mall

Jan. 8, 2011 (Saturday)--After checking in at the NS Royal Pension, we proceeded to Ayala Mall. Papo (my officemate) and I claimed our race packs at the Active Zone for the next day's Cebu Marathon. After checking out some of the stuff for sale at the Active Zone's outdoor and sports shops, I went to the second floor to wait for my Cebu-based couple friends, Jong and Haru.

While waiting at The Terraces, I took snapshots of the young Sinulog dancers down below. One of the girl dancers noticed me taking photos from the second floor and she gave me her sweet Cebuana smile:

From the terrace, I entered the sliding glass door leading to the Sto. Niño exhibit between Kamiseta and Celine boutiques. The annual exhibit is part of the 2011 Sinulog Festival celebration and its aim is to promote the adoration of the Sto. Niño image. Sixty images of the Sto. Niño in various sizes, shapes and colors were on display. These images are from the treasured collections of generations of devotees. This year's exhibit theme is “Gamhanang Kabilin ni Senyor Sto. Nino” and will run until January 18, 2011.

These are some photos of the Sto. Niño images I took from the exhibit:

I met with Jong and Haru afterwards and since we were all hungry, they treated me to an early dinner at the Hukad restaurant.

With my Cebu-based friends, Jong & Haru Rojas.
