Guisi Lighthouse in Guimaras

The Guisi Point Lighthouse is located in Barangay Dolores, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. An 18th-century lighthouse built during the Spanish-colonial era, it is considered as the second oldest lighthouse in the Philippines, next only to the one found in Aparri, Cagayan.

Guisi Lighthouse is about 45 minutes to one hour tricycle ride away from Jordan Port. Though the main highway of Guimaras is well-paved, the road leading to Barangay Dolores is rough and bumpy. Upon reaching Guisi Point, we took a little hike going to the entrace of the lighthouse.

Entrace fee is only 10 pesos per person.

Inside are the ruins of an old Spanish settlement. Definitely, an ideal location for a photoshoot.

My wife having fun inside the ruins.

The Guisi Lighthouse was built to guide ships passing through the Guimaras Strait. The original lighthouse is now a tower of rust and climbing to the top is prohibited.

Guimaras Lighthouse--the second oldest lighthouse in the Philippines.

Near the tower base are writings that said " Guina dili-an ang pag saka kay dilikado", meaning "Climbing is prohibited because it is dangerous". There are some travelers though, who were brave enough to climb this rust just to see the amazing view of the Guimaras Strait.

A few meters away from the original lighthouse is the second tower which I believe was also built during the Spanish time.
And in the middle of the two old towers is this modern lighthouse painted in white. This lighthouse is still functional and serves as a guide to boats cruising along the strait during nighttime.

Below Guisi Point is a patch of white sand beach. Due to time constraint, we were not able to explore its unspoiled beauty. The tricycle driver we hired told us that this beach have facilities for overnight accommodations.

Going there: Take a pump boat ride from the Ortiz Port, Iloilo City to Jordan Port, Guimaras(boat fare is only 13 pesos). In Jordan Port, register at the Guimaras Tourism Office where you can get a map which will serve as your guide to the island's tourist destinations. You can then hire a tricycle which will take you straight to Guisi Lighthouse (P400-500 for one-way and P800 for round-trip).Travel time is about 45 minutes to 1 hour. There are no restaurants in Guisi Point so it is better to bring some food and water in case you get hungry along the way.

  12. Light house plays an important part for sea travellers. It is a navigator for those who lost their way. Travelling in India is also very exciting especially Chardham Tour Packages.
