Parokya ni Edgar Live in Bukidnon's Kaamulan Festival 2011

Parokya ni Edgar performed last Saturday night (March 5, 2011) at the Kaamulan Festival concert in Capitol Grounds, Malaybalay City. The said concert was made possible by Senator Migz Zubiri who is chiefly responsible for bringing Manila-based artists to entertain Bukidnon in every Kaamulan Festival.

It was Yeng Constantino who actually performed first, right after the pyromusical display. We were still at our "camp site" in front of the Provincial Capitol when Yeng performed her repertoire to the delight of the teens and younger ones among the crowd.

It was Parokya's turn after Yeng's set and I believe many of the audience are very eager to see the band live on stage. After all, the band has been around since the 90s, remained solid for two decades now and has built a sold following of loyal fans who grew up with their songs.

To describe this crowd as "huge" would be an understatement.

Parokya opened their show with "Buloy", followed by "Mang Jose" and "Para Sa 'Yo". By the time they did "Halaga", me and my friend James were already approaching the back side of the stage, hoping to get a closer look of the band.

We were very fortunate that one of the guards on duty is a friend of James so were given "back stage access". We hurriedly went inside, climbed the stairs and found ourselves right at the back of Parokya ni Edgar performing before a mammoth crowd.

While we were on stage, Parokya did six more songs: Silvertoes, Pizza Pie, This Guy's In Love With You Pare, Mr. Suave, Inuman na, Harana and The Yes Yes Show.

Chito Miranda (Lead Vocals)

Darius SemaƱa (Lead Guitars)

Gab Chee-Kee (Rhythm Guitars)

Dindin Moreno (Drums)

Bassist Buhawi Meneses was not with the band that night and a session bassist took over the chores.

Chito Miranda and Vinci Montaner during The Yes Yes Show showdown:

Though it was only a short show, I considered it my lucky night. I did not only get the chance to share the same stage with one of my favorite 90s band, I was also able to take lots of photos while they are performing. And just like the fireworks display that was also held that night, Parokya ni Edgar's show was also a blast!
