Food Trip: Ted's Batchoy and BongBong's Pasalubong in Iloilo City

After visiting the beautiful Jaro Cathedral, my wife and I went to SM City Iloilo. It was a cold, late afternoon dampened by the light drizzle. While strolling inside the mall, we found just what our hungry stomachs need: Ted's Batchoy! I've read a lot of good reviews about this batchoyan and I was glad to finally have the chance to sample their famous noodle soup. I know my visit to Iloilo City would not be complete without tasting it.

The batchoyan is filled with lots of customers, a proof that this food outlet is well-loved by the Ilongos. Luckily, we spotted a recently vacated table which we hurriedly occupy.

 Inside Ted's

We then ordered Ted's Amazing Combo: a bowl of batchoy with bread and juice for only 55 pesos.

Amazing combo for only 55 pesos!

The serving size is not that big but is filling enough to satisfy our tummies. At last I got to try the taste of authentic batchoy right here in Iloilo. So what can I say about the taste of Ted's Batchoy? Two words: namit gyud (very delicious)!

You can't go wrong with Bongbong's Pasalubong!

Right outside Ted's Batchoy is this stall named Bongbong's Piaya and Barquillos Pasalubong Center.  Sold here are baked goodies made in Bacolod: piaya, baƱadas, biscocho, barquillos, butter scotch and a whole lot more in colorful packages. My wife bought some for pasalubong and upon arriving home, the biscocho became my instant favorite!

  3. @Christian: I haven't tried eating at Ted's manila branch yet. But I guess the batchoy there is still "true to the taste".
