Bukidnon: One Rainy Afternoon in Kafeneio

Kafeneio is a recently opened resto along the highway of Impasugong, Bukidnon. It sits on a corner lot along crisscrossed roads going east to Impasugong town proper, west to Sitio Intavas (the known jump-off to Mt. Kitanglad), north to Cagayan de Oro City and  south to Malaybalay, the capital city of Bukidnon. Kafenio's tag line, "where all roads coverge", perfectly fits its location.

We stop by Kafeneio one rainy afternoon since a colleague and fellow blogger want to take photos of its architectural design. Fortunately, its owner personally knew my companions and we were invited inside for a complimentary meal.

Kafeneio has a spacious interior with ample natural light provided by its large windows. It also has open-air dining areas on its ground floor and upstairs terraces.

The glass tables with cut logs are very unique. These circular cuttings also adorned the bar counter.

According to the waiter, house specialties include Oven Roasted Wagyu Beef in Traditional Gravy (P120.00-half order; P210.00-short order; P345.00-complete order), grilled fall-off-the-bone Baby Back Ribs (P265.00-short order; P390.00-complete order) and pan seared Tangigue Steak in Butter and Garlic (P235.00-short order; P370.00-complete order). For these entrees, a complete order is served with soup, salad and dessert.

In a little while, Corn Coffee (P30.00) and Kafenio Burger (P100.00-regular; P165.00-big burger) were served on our table. The coffee comes from organically grown corn, roasted then brewed.

On the other hand, the burger has a chunky all-beef patty with slices of tomato, lettuce, pineapple and cheese in a soft, sesame bun and served with potato fries. I find this burger more tasty and satisfying than the one sold by a popular fastfood chain which I've already gotten used to.

Kafenio's specific location is at Sta. Ana, Crossing Kitanglad, Impasugong, Bukidnon. It is adjacent to Oleum Fuel Station and is a perfect rest stop for travelers looking for respite from the long drive along the Bukidnon to Cagayan de Oro route.
