Travel Snaps: St. James the Apostle Church in Batuan, Bohol

We passed by the St. James the Apostle Church of Batuan, Bohol during our road trip from Tagbilaran City to the Chocolate Hills. Built in the 1960s, it is not among the usual old churches visited by tourists in Bohol. What caught my attention, though, is the strong Moorish influence it exudes. Ogee-shaped main entrance, windows and the twin belfry domes dominate the church facade. Somehow, it reminds me of the St. Catherine of Alexandra Church in Carcar, Cebu I visited two years ago.

St. James the Apostle Church is located along the highway, right across the Batuan Municipal Hall compound and just a few meters away from Batuan Shiphaus.
