Travel Snaps: San Isidro Labrador Church in Bilar, Bohol

The Paroquia del Señor San Isidro Labrador in Bilar, Bohol was one of the interesting heritage structures we passed by during our recent road trip from Tagbilaran to Chocoloate Hills and back. Built in 1831, it is one of the old churches of Bohol. Though not as popular as Baclayon or Loboc churches, it is still worth a visit. Bilar Church sits on a sprawling lawn with concrete fence and an intricately designed steel gate.

The church's interior, with its steel trusses and cement-finished walls, have already undergone some renovation. Its large windows and doors, though, were still preserved.

Bilar's best known tourist destination is its man-made forest. When coming from Tagbilaran, it is the town before Batuan where we also dropped by the St. James the Apostle Church and the unique Shiphaus.
