Bukidnon: Kaamulan Festival 2014 Street Dancing Photos(Day 1)

This year's celebration of the Kaamulan Festival coincides with the 100th Foundation Day of the Province of Bukidnon. Hence, this year's Kaamulan is touted as the grandest of all celebrations. In line with this, the Ethnic Street Dancing Competition, considered as the festival's highlight, will be held for two days instead of one. This is done to give enough time for the contingents of each of Bukidnon's two cities and twenty municipalities to showcase their wares through dancing, chanting, rituals and tribal beats.

Kaamulan Festival is an ethnic cultural celebration held annually in the capital city of Malaybalay. The festival gathers together the seven ethnic groups that originally inhabit the province-Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon-to celebrate their culture and tradition. The word Kaamulan comes from the Binukid word "amul" which meand "to gather". Because it is widely participated by indigenous tribes, Kaamulan is hailed as the "only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines".

Today (August 30) is the first day of the Street Dancing Competition.  Since I wasn't able to obtain the official Photographer's ID, I made sure to go to the streets early morning so I could take photos before the start of competition proper. I figured out that maybe unofficial photographers would not be allowed to take photos up close once the street dancing will start.

Fortunately, my home is only a few minutes walk to the highway so I was able to go there early and take some early shots. So for those who missed this event, I am sharing here some of the photos I took before the start of the Kaamulan Festival 2014 Street Dancing:
