Lake Sebu, South Cotabato: Tilapia Overload at Sunrise Garden Lake Resort

After completing the inspection of our client's proposed project site and ziplining at the Seven Falls Zipline, we went to Sunrise Garden Lake Resort to eat our lunch. Sunrise Garden Lake Resort is located at Sitio Outlet, Barangay Lake Seloton, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. If that address got you confused, just bear in mind that the municipality has three lakes; Lake Sebu, Lake Seloton and Lake Lahit. The biggest of these three is Lake Sebu where the municipality also got its name.

Lake Seloton is located on the eastern side and is nearer to the Seven Falls Zipline. It has an area of 48 hectares and is said to be the deepest among the three lakes at  more than 200 feet. Like Lake Sebu, it is also utilized for raising tilapia as aquaculture is one local residents' main livelihood.

Sunrise Garden Lake Resort is located beside Lake Seloton. The resort is named as such because the unobstructed view of sunrise can be seen here. Since the lake is also located a few kilometers from the highway, Sunrise Garden also offers a quaint and relaxing ambiance.

The resort's hotel offers different types of accommodation to suit one's budget--from Dorm Type (P150.00/head) to Family Rooms (P1,800 good for 6-8 persons). They also have a swimming pool for guests to lounge and relax after a day of fun-filled adventures in Lake Sebu.

Sunrise Garden has its own restaurant and guests can eat their food in one of the lakeside cottages. One can choose from a variety of fresh tilapia delicacies while enjoying the view of Lake Seloton. Since we were in a large group, we dined at the resort's multi-function hall. The hall has a capacity of 30-120 persons and is suitable for events, banquets and meetings.

For our lunch, we feasted on tilapia cooked in four varieties: fried tilapia, grilled tilapia, tilapia chicharon and nilagpang (grilled tilapia soup). The dishes are all delectable but I most especially loved the tilapia chicharon as it is very crunchy and bursting with flavor. I imagined it as a perfect "pulutan" with ice cold beer.

After the very heavy lunch, we then moved on to inspect another proposed project site then proceeded to General Santos afterwards. It was a very short day trip in Lake Sebu but I did have fun experiencing some its tourist attractions. I do hope I could go back there one day and discover more of what the place has to offer.
