Review: Apple Tree Resort & Hotel in Opol, Misamis Oriental

Summer will always be synonymous to beach and the season of the sun will never be complete without experiencing the sands and the waves. My kids have been yearning to build sandcastles since the end of their school classes. Thankfully the right opportunity to beach bum came a few weeks ago when we went to Apple Tree Resort & Hotel in Opol, Misamis Oriental. It was actually the second time for my family to stay at Apple Tree. We checked in here four years ago but my kids were very young that time and they could no longer recall the last time we were here.

I made my reservation by sending a private message to the hotel's Facebook page the day before our scheduled arrival. I did not receive an immediate reply but while we're on our way to Cagayan de Oro, a staff called me in my mobile phone to confirm our reservation.

Checking in was quick and hassle free. After paying for our one-night stay, we were handed with our keys and a male staff assisted us in carrying our luggage to the Deluxe Room situated in the second floor.

I was pleased to see the renovation that Apple Tree Resort and Hotel had undergone. Our room is very spacious and brightly painted in white and apple green hues. Fully furnished and airconditioned, it has a queen size bed and a single bed which perfectly fits me, my wife and our two little kids. It is also equipped with a 32"flat screen TV with cable, safety deposit box, complimentary WiFi and toilet and bath with hot and cold shower.

Along with these renovations is the increase in their room rates. Their Deluxe Room now has a rate of P3,400/night whereas during our previous stay four years ago, it was at P2,300.00. The rate, though, comes with free breakfast for two (2) persons.

Our room has a terrace which overlooks the two swimming pools down below.

As we got tired due to the long travel from Malaybalay City to Cagayan de Oro, we opted to rest in our room first. We woke up an hour later and changed into our swimming attire as the kids are already very excited to wade at the pools.

I observed that the pools are bigger now compared to the last time we stayed here. The portion with suitable depth for kids is much wider also. A lifeguard is on standby to  ensure the guests' safety. My kids had a great time swimming and playing in the shallow parts. The pool water is clean and cool making it ideal for the hot summer day.

With the afternoon getting late and the sun's heat slowly cooling off, we decided to walk towards the beach. Opol is best known for its long stretch of gray sand beach, making it a favorite weekend getaway for Cagayan de Oro City folks.  One good thing about staying in Apple Tree Resort is that their beach front is made exclusive for their guests and the sands are kept clean by their staff. So even if the adjacent resorts get crowded, Apple Tree guests can enjoy portion of the long beach to themselves. Again, my kids had a great time playing with the waves and building sandcastles.

One thing you should not miss if you're staying in Apple Tree is the lovely Macajalar Bay sunset.

The long day made us sleep early and the comfortable beds in our room gave us a restful sleep. Upon waking up the next day, we availed our free breakfast at the resort's Erlindo's Restaurant. The dining area is located a few steps away from the pool and has a nice view of the beach. The Filipino breakfast served with fruits plus coffee (or juice) tasted great though serving size was not that generous .

After breakfast, we went swimming at the beach and the pool once again. My kids can't get enough of of the pool, so we let them swim until it is about an hour before check out.

Overall, I enjoyed our weekend at Apple Tree Resort & Hotel. We had a comfortable stay in our room and also enjoyed the swimming pool and the beach. Yes, the room rates are expensive compared to the backpacker accommodations I usually prefer when traveling on a budget. But seeing my family having a great time with the hotel's amenities made me feel happy and grateful for our stay.

If you own a timeshare and are looking to get out of it, look in to the services of a timeshare exit company such as Wesley Financial Group or Primo Management Group. The Wesley Financial Group reviews and Primo Management Group reviews around the Internet are very positive.
