North Cotabato: Agko Mahomanoy Mountain Resort in Kidapawan City

Agko Mahomanaoy Mountain Resort is located in Sitio Agko, Ilomavis, Kidapawan City. It is only a few steps away from the entrance of the mystical Lake Agco, a hot and boiling sulfur lake which is one of the top tourist attractions in the province of North Cotabato.

Agko Mahomanoy Mountain Resort is elevated at 1,250 meters above sea level and nestles at the foot of Mount Apo, the Philippines' highest peak. The place has a natural cold climate due to its high elevation and lush forest surrounding the area.

The resort is a popular stop for tourists visiting Lake Agco. It is also a favorite picnic place of the local folks of Kidapawan and nearby areas. Day tour entrance fee is only 25 pesos per person while overnight entrance fee is only 35 pesos. With this minimal fee, you can already swim at their huge cold water pool and take a therapeutic dip at the smaller pool filled with hot sulfuric water.

They also have a man-made cave used for steam bath.

The resort has a canteen which serves meals, snacks and drinks. However, since we brought our own food we weren't able to sample their offerings.

Open cottages are available for rent with prices ranging from Php100.00 to P400.00. For those who wished to stay overnight, private rooms are also available with rates as low as P300.00.

Souvenir items are available for sell inside and outside the resort. Henna tattoos can also be availed from local artists.

Overall, I enjoyed our day tour in Agko Mahomanoy Mountain Resort. I was able to try both the cold and hot water pools and had a great time bonding with my colleagues. I observed that temperature started to drop late in the afternoon and I could imagine it getting colder into the night.

How to Get There:

Agko Mahomanoy Mountain Resort is about 20 kilometers from Kidapawan City proper. If you are in a private vehicle, take the Kidapawan-Ilomavis road which starts near the Iglesia ni Cristo Church along the highway.

For commuters, from the Overland Terminal take a tricycle ride (P8.00) to KAOSA Terminal or just ask the tricycle driver to take you to the terminal of motorcycles (habal-habal) bound for Lake Agco. Habal-habal fare to Lake Agco is 85 pesos if you are willing to wait for two more passengers. Negotiate with the driver if you want to hire him exclusively for faster commute.

If you own a timeshare and are looking to get out of it, look in to the services of a timeshare exit company such as Wesley Financial Group or Primo Management Group. The Wesley Financial Group reviews and Primo Management Group reviews around the Internet are very positive.
