Review: The Ruf Resto Bar at Ferra Hotel Boracay

From our comfy room at the second floor, we took the elevator to Ferra Hotel's fourth and topmost level. It was past 7 PM and we were already hungry for some chow after a long day of exploring the island. As soon as we set foot in the hotel's roofdeck, we were instantly captivated by the Ruf Restobar's cool and breezy ambiance. It was the kind of chill and vibe that Boracay Island is famously known for.

Situated a few minutes of walk away from D'Mall, White Beach Station 2 and Bulabog Beach, Ferra Hotel is conveniently located far away from the noisy beachfront bars and crowd. The Ruf, perched on the hotel's roofdeck offers open air dining with its choices of Asian dishes and signature cocktails.



The restobar has a modern and cozy setting with soft couches on the open area and comfortable tables and chairs on the roofed portion. Wood planks flooring lend a homey-feel while LCD televisions on the wall are installed for those who do not want to miss their favorite sports action. There is also a bar in the rightmost corner for mixed drinks to while the night away.


A sumptuous feast was laid on our table one by one. First, the Indonesian-inspired Nasi Goreng rice (Php285.00), mildly spiced, garnished with spring onions and topped with egg. Next came the Glazed Fried Chicken (Php470.00), fried in traditional style then drizzled with Asian Glaze. My two kids love its lightly crisp skin and juicy meat complemented by the semi-sweet sauce.


The Satay Sampler (Php385.00) caught my interest and delighted to find it bursting with flavors. It is consists of assorted skewers of grilled meat and seafood in peanut sauce. Finally came the Grilled Baby Back Ribs, tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs in barbeque glaze served with cherry tomatoes and corn cob. Half rack costs only Php530.00 and could already feed 3 hungry stomachs.

 
Our dinner also came with complimentary drinks-Daiquiri (dark rum, lime juice, calamansi juice, sugar syrup) for me; Vodka Sprite (Toska Vodka, Sprite, lime juice) for my wife; and the non-alcoholic Frozen Iced Tea (blended sweet tea, lime juice, calamansi juice) for our kids.


Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience at the Ruf Resto Bar. Aside from the delectable food, refreshing drinks and cool ambiance, we also love the Ruf's excellent customer service. The food servers were all very courteous. Sir Armand, the hotel's F & B in-charge even personally approached us and made sure that we enjoy our food.
