Siargao Island Hopping Guide: Guyam Island, Daku Island and Naked Island

Siargao Island, in the Province of Surigao del Norte, is dubbed as the Surfing Capital of the Philippines. But this teardrop-shaped island actually offers more than just the world-famous Cloud 9 waves. For non-surfers, one of the must-try things to do is to hop to its three island destinations, namely Guyam Island, Daku Island and Naked Island. With its soft white sands kissed by azure, emerald waters, each of these three islands possesses a unique charm and picturesque setting making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling and beach bumming.

How to Do Siargao Island Hopping

Siargao Island hopping jump off is at the Boulevard in General Luna. You may arrange your island hopping with the resort you are staying or you may also opt to book with Explore Siargao. Rate is P1,500 per person and includes lunch and entrance fees.

For those who want to DIY, ride a tricyle to the Boulevard (a few minutes walk from the local market) and rent a boat for P1,500 which is already good for 5 persons (or P300 per person). As this does not include lunch, you may buy food and water first at the small eateries nearby.

Guyam Island

Among the three islands, Guyam Island is the closest to General Luna Boulevard. It is a small island with clear shallow waters, white sands and coconut trees which make it a mini-tropical paradise. It is actually a private island where a caretaker collects 10 pesos per person as entrance fee.

Daku Island

"Daku" means "big" in English and rightly so, Daku Island is the biggest among the three island hopping destinations. It has a long and wide beach lined with tall coconut trees while emerald waters splashed on its shores. Huts are available for rent and you may also buy some fresh catch from the fishermen and have it cooked for a fee. There are also a few small stores selling food and drinks though prices are much higher compared to the mainland.

Naked Island

Naked Island is named so because it is simply a sandbar with no vegetation. It is similar to the White Island in Camiguin. The sands in Naked Island though is not that white and more of cream-colored. It is the last stop of our island hopping before heading back to the Boulevard in General Luna.
