Bohol: Snapshots of Beautiful Anda

The quaint town of Anda nestles on the southeastern coast of Bohol, approximately 100 kilometers from the bustling Tagbilaran City. Its far and away location made it less touristy than the more popular Panglao Island. However, in terms of tourist spots, this quaint town can hold its own as it is home to white sand beaches, dive spots and cave pools which are definitely worthy additions to the list of Bohol's must visit attractions.

Here are some photos taken during our very recent travel to Anda...

Quinale Beach definitely ranks top on the Philippines' best public beaches. It has a long stretch of the finest white sands and sparkling clear emerald waters. Mantalisay trees provide natural shade from the heat of the sun and there are also beach huts which are free to use. The beach is only a few steps away from the municipal hall and best of all it is open for free to the public.

The Province of Camiguin, which is already part of Mindanao, neighbors this part of Bohol. The island can be seen clearly from Quinale Beach.

The Sto. NiƱo Parish Church faces a wide, grassy field. This church was completed in 1926.

While the church looks plain outside, its ceiling features beautiful paintings done by well-known Cebuano artist Ray Francia who also decorated some of Bohol's old churches.

Anda also has a number of cave pools. The most popular is Cabagnow Cave Pool situated about 2 kilometers from the town proper. Adrenaline junkies can jump from the ground down to the deep blue waters below while those who are not brave enough may use the installed steel ladder. The water, a mixture of saline and fresh water, is cool and refreshing. Entrance fee is P50.00 per person and ring buoys are free to use.

MagAnda is a spin-off from the Filipino word "maganda", meaning "beautiful". The next time you visit Bohol, go beyond the usual itinerary and visit this beautiful east cost paradise.
